Who runs this site

András Horváth, Hungary. Questions or requests: hello@andrashorvath.dev

The contact form

When you send a message, your name, email address and message are emailed to me. They are not stored on this site. I use them only to reply. The email stays in my mailbox like any other email; I don't delete messages on a schedule. If you want yours deleted, write to me and I will.

To stop spam, the form allows three messages an hour from one IP address; the address is kept in the server's memory for that hour. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you're a person; it sees your IP address and some details of your browser, and sets no tracking cookies.

Cookies

The home page sets no cookies. The contact form and the blog need two technical cookies: a session cookie and a security (CSRF) token. They expire after two hours. No tracking cookies.

Visitor statistics

Visits are counted with Pirsch, a cookie-free analytics service with servers in Germany. It records the page, where the visit came from, the browser, the device type and the country. To tell visits apart it uses a hash of the IP address and browser that changes every day; the IP address itself is never stored. Nothing it keeps can identify you. Page views are reported to Pirsch by this server when you open a page; your browser only reports the actions below.

It also counts what visitors do on the page, without knowing who they are: which menu items, buttons and links are clicked, whether the contact form was sent (never what was in it), and how far down the page a visit gets.

Hosting and Cloudflare

The site runs on a web host in Hungary. Like every web server, its access logs record IP addresses, under the host's own retention rules. Traffic passes through Cloudflare, which speeds up the site and protects it from attacks.

Why, and your rights

The contact form data is used to answer your request (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)). The statistics, the spam protection and Cloudflare rest on legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)): running a secure site and knowing how people find it. You can ask what is stored about you, ask for it to be deleted, or object, by writing to the address above. You can also complain to the Hungarian data protection authority, NAIH.
